This fine old lodge began receiving guests in 1916 as Springer's Tavern. Before the road was built in 1922, many visitors came by boat from Seattle to Port Crescent on the Strait of Juan de Fuca...
From there they journeyed inland by stage to Lake Crescent where a second boat brought them to the lodge. Once here, guests might spend a month or more enjoying the serene beauty of the Olympics. After the road was built all this began to change. But remarkably, this small, intimate lodge that once played host to an American president has managed to retain the quiet ambiance of this bygone era.
