Spectacular draperies of Spikemoss hang from big leaf maple trees in the temperate rain forest of the Hoh Valley. These epiphytes, (one plant living on another), do no harm, but may weigh four times as much as the treeĀ¹s own foliage. Rainfall in these western valleys may exceed 140 inches per year.
