A lone Douglas-fir tree stands tall beside lovely Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park. Mature trees commonly grow four to eight feet in diameter and attain heights of 200 feet or more. One of the largest specimens known is in the remote Queets Valley on the Park’s west side. Its trunk measures 14 1/2 feet in diameter and has a broken top at 212 feet.
